There are a few things we’ve found we get asked a lot and if you’ve been around our website and have a question in mind, hopefully you’ll find the answer here. If not, feel free to drop us a line and we’ll do our best to answer you.

Q. I have a nut allergy, can I eat your products?

A. We are personally very allery aware and allergies have always been an important factor in the way we work. However, we no longer operate a fully nut free site and some nuts are present in our kitchen outside of production times. We have written more about this over on our dedicated allergy page but we would be very happy to chat to you directly about your specific situation.

Q. I have a gluten allergy/am a Coeliac, can I eat your products?

A. Again, our dedicated allergy page should shed a bit more light on our approach and we hope it will be of comfort to know that our Chief Maker is a Coeliac and so there is no gluten in our kitchen. However, we have found it nearly impossible to source ingredients without the disclaimer of “may have been handled on the same line/in the same facility”.

Q. Can you tell me about the provenance of your ingredients?

A. We would be more than happy to share the provenance of our ingredients, although it’s rather a long list! Our primary ingredients such as the cacao and yacon tend to hail from Peru. All of our other ingredients are really a display of international delights. We try to source mindfully and work with suppliers that align with our earth kind ethos. It would be wonderful to, say, use British raspberry fruit powder however we’ve been unable as yet to find an organic supplier here. We’re always on the lookout for better and kinder ways of doing things so our provenance “map” will be continually evolving.

Q. Why are your bars different in price to what I can get in the supermarket?

A. We ask what we think is a fair exchange for the amount of time, energy and thought that goes into every bar. The reality is that the ingredients we use are not, and should not be, cheap: especially as we lack the economies of scale of large producers. But comparing our handmade, small batch, ethically sourced and consciously created bars with what you can get at the supermarket is really a bit like comparing apples and oranges!
